They currently have a vacancy for a professional Marine Engineer: This is a challenging role with significant responsibility, providing their clients with the high standards of service they have come to expect. The Marine Engineer will primarily be involved in working on new construction and be based in the London Office. Travel is required to shipyards and manufacturers, primarily in Europe. Applicants will be degree qualified with significant experience in consultancy, shipyards or seagoing experience. Please note that their involvement in yacht construction is at the larger end of the build market, currently most are over 3000gt. Job Scope - Marine Engineer: * Working on highly prestigious, new build yacht projects, the majority of which are 100m , crew ship type vessels * You will be expected to run major projects in tandem with a Naval Architect * Carry out plan approval and onsite inspections * Provide technical support to the Yacht Management team. * Client-facing role * Design is provided by a yacht designer; your role will involve project co-ordination and shipyard management on behalf of the client * Client reporting * Travel: at the commencement of a project, you are likely to spend 4/5 days per month visiting a European shipyard but towards completion of a project, it may be almost double this The successful candidate should have: * Chartered Engineer status * Technical Consultancy, Shipyard Design or Classification Society background * Practical onboard knowledge * Project Management experience * Experience of new build projects * Excellent verbal and written communication skills This is a challenging role with significant responsibility, providing their clients with the high standards of service they have come to expect of the company.The Marine Engineer will be expected to run major projects, participate in concept design, carry out plan approval and onsite inspections, as well as providing Technical Support to the Yacht Management team. Applicants should therefore have a minimum of 5 years experience as a Chartered Engineer. Terms and Conditions: * Negotiable salary - c£60,000 * Holiday is 25 days per annum with a few extra days at Christmas * Company bonus scheme which runs at 10% of basic salary – this is performance related to a degree. * Pension is an auto-enrolment pension scheme provided to all eligible UK employees. The employer contribution is 4% of basic pay, and the employee contribution is 5% of basic pay. Previous yacht-related experience will be advantageous but is not considered essential. The Marine Engineer position reports to two senior managers (one for marine engineering and the other for naval architecture), who, in turn report to the Director of Technical Services.
