Design Engineer – Mechanical Integrity Rugby £ Competitive! As the Design Engineer, you will be responsible for applying the latest research and development to industrial steam turbines and undertaking engineering structural and thermal modelling associated with the design and development of industrial steam turbines. In this role the engineer will Apply appropriate research and development to industrial steam turbines, Assess the mechanical integrity of turbine components by undertaking appropriate analytical or numerical, linear or non-linear analyses of thermal, mechanical or dynamic stresses Use the results for appropriate life assessments of all aspects of the turbine operating envelope, including start-up and shut-down, Validate and interpret the results of analyses, using alternative analytical methods or measured data as appropriate Derive mechanical integrity methods for use in the development of industrial and small steam turbines Work with other engineers involved in the machine’s development Estimate tasks requirements and completion to an agreed budget and timescale, Undertake all reasonable other duties and responsibility as may be required by the line manager. Ideally you will have/ be: Degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent) Hold, or be working towards, a recognised national or internationally accepted accreditation as a professional engineer, e.g. Chartered Engineer in the UK. Experience of the design and analysis of power plant is required, ideally working with steam or gas turbines. Ability to deal with complex situations. Experienced in using MS Office and desktop analytical tools. Product life-cycle management of engineering data.
