The incumbent for this position shall be a graduate engineer in electrical with over 8 years working experience. Preferred experience is with high voltage sub-stations (220kV and lower voltage GIS down to 33kV) as switching engineer attached with large power generating stations. Diploma holders (three year diploma)This position is for shift coverage for the electrical control room in Common Seawater Facility with responsibility for operation of different sub-stations under Ras Laffan City Operations Department. Candidates experience in electrical fault analysis with modern power electronic systems including frequency controlled variable speed drive systems will be an added advantage. Assistant shift engineer will work in shift and report functionally to senior shift supervisor of OES as well as reporting technically to the lead electrical engineer responsible for the RLC and CSF substations. He shall be responsible for operation of all bays at the Ras Laffan City substations, for electrical safety at these substations, for coordination with maintenance staff for work in the substations, for routine operational checks on the substations and equipment and completion of daily electrical reports. Staff selected for this position shall have excellent spoken, written and reading skills in English.
