(1742) Workshop Supervisor
Supervise all fabrication, maintenance and repair of various devices and parts in the workshop & site relating to metal craft for both Zirku and Zakum fields. Principal Accountabilities: a.) Supervise the activities of assigned personnel in the Workshop section to ensure work programmes and objectives are achieved. Inspect completed work to ensure adherence to specified standards. Will also inspect contractor’s work when requested. b.) Receive work order requests concerning repair or fabrication of pipes, metal parts or structures in the workshop. Discuss with initiators and recommend alternatives and optimum methods of fabrication. Determine extend of work required and priorities, and give technical advice to the various specialized craft groups, and assign work to subordinates with appropriate instructions. c.) Ensure that requests for repairs and maintenance work from various sites are made in accordance with engineering standards and practices, and are completed, as far as possible, within time requested. d.) Liaise with HSE to establish work procedures for hazardous equipment and environments where necessary. e.) Review workshop stores to ensure that adequate stocks of materials are available at all times. f.) Establish procedures for recording and reporting workshop activities, including records of work orders, work reports and a maintenance log of work carried out, describing the time, labour and materials used. Process other documentation and submits daily and monthly reports on work activities, and specialized technical reports as requested g.) Inspect the workshop area to ensure proper maintenance of equipment, good housekeeping and the observance of Companys HSE regulations. Prepare requisitions for the repair or replacement of workshop equipment as required and supervise the proper use, maintenance and storage of tools. h.) Assign craftsmen and technicians to Zakum field to carry out work on site. Coordinate work activities with site personnel concerned and discuss any technical problems that may arise. i.) Assist in the preparation of the section’s capital and revenue budget. Organizational Relationships (Work Contacts): Regular contact with personnel at own or next higher level in the maintenance service and Production Department to coordinate and schedule work, resolve problems and obtain information. Occasional contact with Logistics and Supply Department to follow up on requisitions and with Zakum Field on items sent to the workshop for repair. Physical Effort: Minimal, but some standing & walking When in the workshop or site. Work Environment: Approximately 80% of the working time is spent in an air-conditioned environment. The remainder is spent exposed to prevailing weather conditions dust, dirt and noise when on site. Desired Candidate Profile Qualification & Experience: a.) B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. b.) 10 years experience in diverse metal crafts including machine tooling, bench fitting and the fabrication and repair of pipes including 5 years in a supervisory position in a machine tools and fabrication workshop preferably in the oil industry.
