916332 - Climate Science and Sustainability Project Coordinator Job Summary This role will coordinate the short term projects that are key to providing the business with science based evidence on which to make business decisions. The role is part of a critical programme focused on understanding the impact of a changing climate to our client’s business. You will be part of the Climate Change and Sustainable Technologies (CCST) team and apply knowledge of science, technology and policy etc. to help steer investment decisions and manage risk in the existing portfolio. In particular, this role will focus on coordinating the projects that are undertaken by the team. The Climate Science and Sustainability Project coordinator will report to the Climate Science and Sustainability Manager. Job Description The role will coordinate all the aspects of delivering short term science and sustainability projects that are requested by the business. The team provide information and insight on environmental issues and societal impacts in order to be a trusted source of information for making business decisions. In addition to some longer term strategic programmes, the team also undertake research and studies on particular topics. For example, the life cycle impact of solar technologies; the most environmentally appropriate route for disposal of sulphur from marine fuel or the changing nature of air quality in China and how that might shape business there. The role will liaise between the internal request for the information, source a suitable external consultant or research partner to undertake the work, and manage it through to completion including reviewing outputs and disseminating them back to the original requestor. This is an individual contributor role and has no direct reports. Specific tasks / activities, management, reporting, interfaces etc. Ideally about 5 distinct Set up processes to identify projects, define and scope them to enable research and analysis to be undertaken and results communicated. Develop network of consultancies, research partners and academia to ascertain which subjects to approach which organisations for Scope projects with sufficient detail to enable work to be tendered Review interim reports and finalise outputs to be communicated Take an active part in other client Group Technology programmes (currently methane and net zero emissions) as required. Determining network of subject specialists in the environmental issues and societal impacts subject areas. Ensuring outputs are meeting the needs of the business. Personal Specification Degree (Engineering or Science) and /or Masters Working knowledge of Environmental isses and societal impacts (ideally in the extractive industries) Proven history of managing and delivering technical project work Self starter, independent and quick learner Logical and thorough Some travel will be required
