Responsibilities: •Support project manager and project team with all environmental aspects of pipeline construction projects; •Develop and confirm environmental assessment scope of work, coordinate the selection of environmental consultant; •Coordinate with environmental consultant the preparation of Environmental report, archaeological reports and any other environmental supporting documentation; •First point of contact for the environmental consultant and all environmental matters •Coordination of the Duty-to-Consult process with Regulatory Advisor and Community Engagement Advisor as part of the Environmental Assessment •Develop and review stakeholder consultation materials •Coordinate and participate in public and stakeholder engagement activities with the Environmental Consultant •Prepare and review written materials on environmental matters for Ontario Energy Board applications, interrogatory responses, and written testimony; •Support construction team with response to any environmental incidents during construction; including spill response, soil management, hazardous waste management, liaise with regulatory agencies, etc. •Coordinate construction and post-construction environmental monitoring requirements; •Coordinate, write and review post-construction environmental reports •Developing scopes of work and reviewing environmental reports prepared by environmental consultants; providing expertise and recommendations to business on environmental findings •Preparing and reviewing correspondence and reports for internal and external stakeholders such as the Ontario Energy Board and other regulatory agencies; •Participating and facilitating meetings with internal/external stakeholders to discuss environmental projects, develop strategies and work towards resolving environmental issues •Identify opportunities for improvement or gaps, and solution options for business decision and implementation •Develop and sustain environmental policies, procedures and programs for application throughout company •Develop, communicate, support and actively promote environmental policies, procedures and programs for application throughout company; this may include delivering presentations, training courses, information/awareness sessions, working with external environmental consultants, etc. •Support business (including key contractors where appropriate) with all day-to-day environmental inquiries including providing timely response to environmental issues from field locations throughout franchise area; •Other duties as assigned Qualifications •Minimum Bachelor Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning or Natural Science; graduate level degree considered an asset •7-10 years applied, progressive environmental experience •Demonstrated experience completing Environmental Assessments for pipeline construction projects to meet Ontario Energy Board and/or National Energy Board requirements •Comprehensive understanding of and experience with provincial and federal environmental legislation, specifically as it applies to: species at risk, hazardous waste and contaminated soil management, spills, water taking and discharge, duty to consult, etc. •Project management experience in environmental planning and permitting requirements for pipeline construction; •Experience developing, managing and implementing Environmental Protection Plans for construction projects; •Comprehensive field experience interpreting environmental permit requirements, inspecting construction projects for environmental compliance, providing recommendations to mitigate impacts to the environment and experience in site restoration •Experience in participating and leading indigenous consultation activities; •Experience developing, implementing, communicating and sustaining corporate environmental management policies, programs and procedures •Experience designing and completing environmental work programs including: Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, Environmental Impact Assessments and Screenings, Species at Risk Assessments, and Environmental Restoration and Remediation projects •Experience developing, maintaining and operating within an Environment Management System; •Excellent ability to effectively communicate throughout the organization, work constructively and supportively in a team environment and build positive relationships •Strong analytical skills, able to apply objective and critical thought to managing and resolving issues, and technical challenges; •Experience and ability to respond to emergency situations and travel as required; •Highly organized, self-directed with the desire to contribute to a dynamic and face-paced environment; •Share company core values of Integrity, Safety and Respect.
