The Production Systems Specialist position is responsible for installing, maintaining, supporting and documenting a small suite of Production Applications used in the oil & gas industry for production surveillance, processing, facilities management and artificial lift. Some of the software applications include but are not limited to OFM and Pipesim from Schlumberger; HYSYS from AspenTech; CAESAR from Intergraph; IPM from Petroleum Experts; DesignBase from Paladin, etc. Main users of these software applications are production engineers, reservoir engineers, process engineers, facilities, engineers and electrical engineers. The position is also responsible for learning and using various IT applications required for HelpDesk Ticketing, Change Management, Software Inventories, Knowledge Sharing, Project Management and Reporting. In addition, the position will coordinate work and project related activities with other IT Teams in Oman and outside Oman in order to ensure the suite of production systems is always available. Some of these IT Teams, include Network, Storage, Security and Packaging and Licensing. Technical Systems Specialist responsibilities include but are not limited to : • Support and maintain the suite of production applications and provide day to day support. • Plan and execute software upgrades in coordination with Application Owners in the US and key business users in Oman, consistent with corporate standards. • Coordinate presentations and training activities with software providers and internal Training Team. • Learn, understand and analyze well and production data, create analysis and reports using MS Excel and other reporting technologies. • Ability to attend and participate of international conference calls in English. • Back-fill other IT Applications personnel as required. Requirements:- • Bachelor’s degree in MIS or Computer Science or Computer Engineering with GPA 3.0 • Minimum 3 years’ experience supporting Technical Software Applications in the Oil & Gas Industry • Familiarity with relational databases such as Oracle and Microsoft SQL and ability to write simple queries. • Ability to analyze large data sets and generate summary reports and pivot tables. • Good understanding of application support role, computer hardware, network and operating systems concepts, and the O&G production data flow. • Ability to effectively troubleshoot applications and data related issues. • Very good communication and interpersonal skills. • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
