HEAD ROTATING EQUIPMENT ENGINEERING This is an opportunity for you to lead and be responsible for rotating equipment engineering scope of work and associated technical input into the design, fabrication, construction and installation for the Bul Hanine Re-Development Project, with the aim of ensuring appropriate analysis and selection rotating equipment packages, with focus on the successful execution on time, within budget and in accordance with the agreed project requirements, specifications and standards. Your main duties will be to: Accountable for the technical integrity of the engineering and design activities within the Rotating Equipment Engineering discipline and for ensuring that safe, cost efficient and on time Rotating Equipment Engineering design is developed for the project Be responsible for and provide direction to the technical services in the Mechanical Engineering elements of the project scope, with special attention to the Design Basis, FEED and EPIC scope preparation and execution, design/safety/operations reviews, procurement of equipment and materials, factory acceptance test, vendor selection and timely resolution of technical and engineering issues, in coordination with the Manager of Facilities / Engineering Manager, other Head Discipline Engineers and relevant QP stakeholders Be the projects technical expert in the Rotating Equipment Engineering discipline and be the final technical approval authority for deviations and derogations against project specification and Rotating Equipment technical standards. Lead the Rotating Equipment Engineering team in developing design scope and ensure that all related deliverables are in compliance with applicable codes, standards, Project and Corporate requirements and procedures Coordinate and align Rotating Equipment Engineering interfaces between the project phases and direct the Contractors design efforts accordingly taking into account safety, start-up, cost and constructability inputs Establish professional work relationships with FEED and EPIC Contractor, represents QPs interest and directs Contractors with any technical queries and interpretation of scope, specifications and standards Maintain and overview of the project Rotating Equipment capability and highlight to Engineering Manager any critical resourcing issues. Provide technical guidance and prepare the Rotating Equipment Engineering specific elements for the FEED and EPIC tender, procurement activities, technical bid evaluation, technical queries raised by Contractors Participate in the Technical Bid Evaluation and provide necessary guidance in selecting the FEED and EPIC contractors Lead the development of rotating equipment design packages and deliverables for the highly sour offshore facilities related to the Bul Hanine Re-development Project, with special attention to Design Basis, preparation for FEED and EPIC, FEED & EPIC execution, design/safety/operations reviews in coordination with Lead Mechanical Engineer (Offshore). Review and endorse machinery selection reports, application and sizing studies and select best techno-economic solutions, ensuring that all deliverables are in compliance with the applicable Codes, Standards, as well as corporate requirements and procedures. Lead machinery material handling & lifting studies. Support FEED execution and procurement of Long Lead Items (LLI’s), review and provide input to Technical Deviations, support tendering activities (including tender preparation, pre-qualification, bid evaluation and award) for FEED & EPIC contracts. Review detailed design specifications and drawings, submitted by Contractors and Consulting Engineers for compliance with Design Basis, Specifications, Codes, Standards and Industry Practices. Lead and provide rotating equipment technical support to the Project during FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, fabrication, testing, installation, commissioning and start-up stages of the project. Support handover planning and project completion. Provide guidance and participate in implementing project HSE and QA/QC processes/procedures and activities in close coordination with project management team and in consultation with QP stakeholders, with the aim of achieving safe and successful execution of the project, with products that meet project requirement. Supervise team members and support Qatari development activities by ensuring that Qatari Nationals receive proper job training and development, in order to realize the full potential for local talent, and maximize contribution to project success. Ideally you will have a B.Sc. in Mech. Engineering from of a recognized University, higher degree would be advantageous. Membership of a recognized professional engineering association (or institution) is preferable. You should have a Minimum of 15 years relevant years’ experience in rotating equipment engineering in Oil & Gas industry with an Oil & Gas Company or Consultancy/Contractor. Of the 15 years’ experience, a minimum of 8 years should have been as a Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer in a major project and a minimum of 5 years and a Lead Rotating Equipment Engineers in design of major projects with a reputable engineering consultant, EPIC Contractor or O&G Company. You should be well experience in developing and endorsing machinery selection/application and sizing studies for major rotating equipment, such as compressors and pumps with large prime movers (e.g. gas turbines, electric motors etc.). Fully familiar with rotating equipment thermodynamics and machinery design fundamentals related to onshore Oil & Gas facilities. Fully familiar with Shell DEPS, international design codes, standards and Company standards and procedure and design software packages. You should be experienced in FAT, SAT, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up & trouble shooting. Experienced in FEED & Detail engineering development and EPIC Contract execution of various rotating equipment packages encountered in the Oil & Gas Production/Processing facilities and familiar with mitigation measures and the design/practical implications associated with highly sour fields. Familiarity with all aspects of Safety in Design including HAZOP, HAZID, QRA and Hazard quantification. You will have previous experience in exposed, for extended periods of time, to assignment overseas ideally with: SHELL, CHEVERON, CONOCO PHILLIPS, EXXON, ADNOC, BP, PDO, ARAMCO and/or TOTAL. You will have been exposed to different cultures, backgrounds and environments with strong leadership and have the ability “to take action”, be the “decision-maker” with “common sense”. You will have a good level of computer literacy and be proficient in Microsoft Office. You will need excellent communication and presentation skills in both written and verbal English.
