Jobs Purpose: To apply professional skills and expertise to effectively and efficiently manage a team of Chiyoda Quantity Surveyors and Subcontract Engineers/Staffs to ensure maximization of Chiyoda profit, protection against claims and potential losses and anticipate and report areas of commercial risk through detailed analysis of information and undertake ‘hands on’ tasks. Responsibilities: Proactively manage the Team to ensure Chiyoda’s profit is maximised Ensure alignment with Chiyoda management on all planned actions Establish and monitor the performance of systems and procedures to ensure full visibility of JV actions and planned actions Liaise with JV partner to ensure harmonious relationships within the team whilst maintaining Chiyoda’s commercial and contractual position Manage, direct and supervise the Team to ensure compliance with Chiyoda’s policies, procedures and project goals Arrange and/or attend meetings; maintain and issue file notes to Line Manager Receive, review and comment on reports received from Team, JV Partners, Chiyoda management, Subcontractors and vendors Proactively undertake risk management and analysis Report to management in a timely manner and in any event at least once a week on Team activities and any issues which may affect profitability In conjunction with JV partner and Chiyoda management establish and implement dispute resolution strategies where required Provide contractual advice on, and where necessary draft, claims and changes to Client Undertake QS/Subcontract Engineer/Staff duties when Team resources are periodically insufficient to cope with the workload and prior to the establishment of the Team Monitor and report on Team resource requirements Periodically undertake performance reviews with Team members and report to/discuss with Chiyoda management Liaise with CGH Legal and Construction Unit and other CGH Disciplines when necessary or requested Undertake any other work reasonably requested by Line Managers Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision to achieve Chiyoda goals whilst ensuring compliance with management directions Ability to interpret, understand and advise on complex contractual matters Ability to clearly and succinctly communicate advice, comments and information Ability to negotiate with others to achieve pre-determined outcomes Conduct technical presentations to related work groups explaining the essential elements of the EPC work being undertaken Write clear, precise financial reports Proactively assesses risk elements of ongoing, future work, alert related work groups on possible and probable future events Requirements: Degree in Quantity Surveying or related construction activities 5 years in the work in a team of Subcontract on EPC oil and gas projects, as Subcontract Engineer/Quantity Surveyors positions A ‘people person’ with the ability to successfully manage, influence and inspire Team members in a non-confrontational manner to achieve best outcomes Ability to work successfully with people from different cultures, backgrounds and motives, and ensure, as far as possible, harmonious relations amongst all groups Apply high standards to own work and ensure work is submitted in a complete manner within required timeline Actively participate in assigned teams and deliver appropriate work input Communicate effectively with team members and supervisor to ensure a complete flow of required information
