(843) Senior Materials Engineer (Well Engineering Department)
Duties: •Ensure BGD contractors provide OCTG services, drilling and completions equipment that meet BGD and industry quality standards in order to minimize BAB development project cost and delays due to quality related problems. Coordination and participation in all QA/QC field / vendor manufacturing and workshop activities. Fulfill the role as a Senior Wells (Drilling/Completions) Materials Engineering resource within BGD. Mentor and coach BGD Wells Engineers in the practice of Materials and equipment QAQC Engineering requirements. Drive Operational excellence via these activities HSE Critical Tasks •HSE incident investigation (Team Member) •Ensure BGD HSE programs, procedures and guidelines are incorporated into inspection/surveillance process and monitor supplier and inspector HSE performance •Set clears HSE expectations and promote a high degree of health, safety and environmental awareness by participating in HSE meeting Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities •Reduce NPT through QA/QC management of drilling and completions equipment and OCTG as well as drilling tools, wireline, logging, perforating, coiled tubing and drill pipe inspection •Set a clear HSE leadership example and promote a high degree of health, safety and environmental awareness among project stakeholders •ISO 9001:2008 / API Q1 / Q2 process based audits of manufacturer’s district locations •ISO 9001:2008 / API Q1 / Q2 process based audits of selected manufacturing and threading locations. (Audits may instead be performed by the Wells QA/QC Quality Team) •Assess local district shops through annual quality systems audit with Wells Team Lead. Follow up with contractors to ensure preventive measures are put in place to continually improve •Acting as the project authority on Quality related matters •Hands on approach with frequent visits to vendor locations and work sites •Act as BGD QA QC witness to builds and tear downs for reporting issues. •Verify vendors adhere to requirements outlined in their respective Quality Plan •Verify all required levels of maintenance are performed on all equipment assigned for BGD’s operations •Immediately notify BGD wells team lead on critical issues encountered at the job •Provide inspection reports on activities performed •Focus on QA/QC improvements for the most problematic tool/equipment types (MWD/LWD,RSS Reamers, Motor/Turbines, completion and well services equipment and Liner Hanger Running / Setting Tools) •Coordinate inspection surveillance activities associated with OCTG and drilling and completion tools (drill pipe, bottom hole assemblies, collars, mud motors, etc) •Oversight third party inspectors •Be an active participant in Root Cause Analysis Team (RCA) by: (1) Providing inspection reports on failed tools inspected at tool supplier shops (2) Participating in shop evaluations of returned failed tools where and when appropriate (3) Facilitating interaction between RCA and the vendors QA/QC Departments (4) Providing input into Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA’s) (5) Provide field based mentoring, coaching and training and well engineers, junior QA/QC engineers/inspectors, and assists in performance evaluation of their development Desired Candidate Profile Minimum Experience Requirement: •Document experience in ISO 9001 based quality system audits and detailed understanding of the role of contractor/vendor Quality Management System (QMS) •A working knowledge of the T.H. Hills DS-1 / STC-1 and Fernley Procter NS-2 •Understanding of different welding methods and general requirements for WPS and PQR •Understanding of drill pipe inspection requirements in DS-1 as well as re-facing, re cutting, hard banding •Understanding of industry leading contractor drilling tool BHA maintenance management system (such as: Halliburton, Baker, Weatherford and Schlumberger D&M, etc.) and first alert/engineering change communication process •Understanding of premium connection make-up graphs as well as proper API connection make-up •Familiarity with the following specifications: API 5CT (PSL1/2), 5L,14A, 11D1, 14L, 6A •Understanding of common oilfield OCTG size, weight and grade •A working knowledge of non-destructive inspection standards and specifications references in API Spec 8C, API Spec 7, and a familiarity with those referenced in API 6A/17D, 16R, 16F, 16A, 16C, ASME, NACE •Understanding the manufacturing, handling and well application of CRA materials •Maximum 50 years & Male
